(SOLVED) Swap out data drive to add a second parity drive

Featured Replies

I’d like to add a second parity drive but don’t have a spare drive bay (15 bay all used) I do have a 3tb data drive that has no files on, what would be the best way to remove that and add the new 8tb parity drive

Thanks

Dave

Tools - New Config, Preserve All. It will let you make changes to assignments before starting the array.

Assign disks however you want, without the disk you want to remove and with new parity2. Be very sure you don't accidentally assign any disk with data on it to any parity slot.

Then start the array to begin parity rebuild. Both parity will rebuild and both need to rebuild since you have removed a data disk.

Since you need to remove a disk before you can plug in that other disk, go to Settings - Disk Settings and disable autostart. Then shutdown and remove and install disks as needed. Then follow the instructions in my previous post.
