Space-economical rack-mounting options?

Featured Replies

My UnRaid server has been using an old repurposed desktop tower/mobo and has been fine, but I want to replace it with a more purpose-built setup. Also, I came into some Unifi rackmount gear that I'd like to rack up with my new UnRaid build.  I would like this thing to be space-economical if possible - I live in a small house and space is at a premium.  My UnRaid currently runs 3x 3.5" (plus an M.2 cache) but it'd be nice to be able to fit 6, give or take, eventually. I mostly use it for file storage, photography detritus, and family stuff, some Dockers, light use of Plex:

So, specs:

??? rackmounted UnRaid fileserver

1U Unifi USG (short, like 5-6")

1U Unifi switch (15" depth)

Does anyone have recommendations for a rack and a server chassis that can hold this gear optimally?

I was thinking about building around a GIGABYTE C246M-WU4 Micro-ATX in maybe a Rosewill RSV-R4100 4U chassis, but would love it to be even smaller.  Also I can't find the right rack and not sure if I should just rack the network gear since it's so light and get a regular desktop case, or what. Opinions most welcome.
