February 8, 201115 yr Hey folks, I just received my Azza Helios 910 case which i plan on using for my unraid server. I also have a super micro 5-in-3 drive cage. After looking at the case, im a little worried that my drive cage will not fit in the case due to the fins that are there to guide 5.25 drives into place. Has anyone had any experience using drive cages with this case ? Really hoping i wont have to make modifications to the case. Not even sure how i can remove the fins? If modding the case is the only way, can someone tell me how they got rid of the fins? Thanx very much. -DaViS

Some have mentioned that using a deep C-clamp works well with least effort and damage to the case.
February 8, 201115 yr I can't speak to the fins (I don't have a multi-drive cage; I opted for individual 5.25" hot-swap enclosures), however, there is a plastic guard rail that runs between the 3rd and 4th drive. It can easily be removed with a sharp knife if it gets in the way.
February 8, 201115 yr Author Thanx for the comments bjp999 and tkenn1s. I was aware of the plastic rails and plan to just cut them. Didn't think of using a c-clamp to bend the fins. Was assuming i'd need to use a dremel or somethign. C clamp sounds much easier and less messy. Hopefully i can find a deep clamp around here. -DaViS
February 8, 201115 yr I used the Azza supplied 4 in 3 drive cage with the Helios 910. Additional 4 in 3 cages were $4 w/o the fan, $8 w/LED fan plus $10 shipping cost in U.S. C-clamp looks to be the best solution for your setup.
February 8, 201115 yr Author I could go that route mbryanr but i've already got one 5-in-3 cage so might as well get two more. My plan was to build up to 15 drives anyway.
February 9, 201115 yr mbryanr, where did you pick up the 4 in 3 cages were $4 w/o the fan, $8 w/LED. I am going with the same case and needed a cage and need the fan. You happen to have links for those?
February 9, 201115 yr Author FYI. I tried with pliers and a deep throat c clamp (3 1/2 inches deep). The c clamp seemed to work the best for bending the fins out of the way.
February 9, 201115 yr How do you like this case? With the discontinuation of the CM590 This case may be the next best bet. If you could take some pictures of your setup it would be MUCH appreciated!!
February 9, 201115 yr Author I had originally planned on buying a CM590 but couldn't find them in stock due to discontinuation. My plan was to go with an Antec 900 or 902. Then i discovered this case... Just looking at the case, im pretty happy with it. It's quite solid. Comes with 4 fans, which are apparently reasonably low on noise. Has a fair amount of room. I currently have my unraid in an older Chieftec Dragon case but wanted this case so i can use 3 x 5-in-3 drive cages. I only have one drive cage atm but will be getting a couple more. I'll be switching over to the Azza case in the next few days. Will post some pix. I'm thinking this is definitely a worthy replacement for the CM590, based on the build quality, price etc.

I am trying to find a good replacement case for my customer builds that were based on the CM590 and this one seems to be the closest match. It is not over the top on styling/lack there of, so it gets high marks from me on that (short of the really big fan on the side).
February 9, 201115 yr It is not over the top on styling/lack there of, so it gets high marks from me on that (short of the really big fan on the side). Overall, this is a nice solid case, and a reasonable amount of space for cabling. It is a little tight if routing the cables behind the motherboard plate. I really like the overall looks (the side fan is not facing me ) My wife thinks the power led is too bright, but I like it and haven't disconnected it. Originally I had the case where there was a significant amount of dust being pulled into the case (230mm intake fan with no filter), which I initially put a panty hose over, then ultimately buying a custom filter from DEMCIfilter. Later, I moved the case to a TV stand, and as long as I don't close the doors completely, airflow through the case is excellent (also have my Syno inside the stand which is the source of most of the heat). Normal Max temp of the drives I have seen is 32 C (on a Hitachi 7200rpm). I got mine for $40 at the time. The 4 in 3 cages are solid with no major issues. The top exhaust fan was defective and vibrated slightly when powered up. I ended up replacing that fan.
February 10, 201115 yr I love the case and you can't beat the price -- it's $59 w/ free shipping from Amazon after a $20 MIR. As for customer service ... I'm using individual hot-swap drive carriers and ran out of thumb screws for the HD brackets. Azza is sending me a dozen extra screws for free (I had to pay $3 for shipping). All-in-all, it's a GREAT case and I'm super happy with it and the company. BTW; the fans are a little noisy for my taste. The fan mounted to the top of the case rattles. A lot. So, I bought a couple replacement fans (should be here in a day or two) that will hopefully quiet it down.
