February 8, 201115 yr You must sign up to receive newegg shell shocker emails and then you would have received it.
February 8, 201115 yr Author Not doubting you, but curious. Where are you are seeing this advertised? Newegg sends out daily emails of "specials" that will show up, that day, at a certain time. This one is scheduled to show up 1pm Pacific. You may sign up on their website to get those daily "Shell Shocker Preview" emails.
February 8, 201115 yr Interesting - I get a daily email from newegg, but not the one this deal was in. I just checked my account settings and do not see a signup for a special shell shocker email, just the "newsletter", which I do get. Any ideas how to turn this on?
February 8, 201115 yr I almost bit yesterday, but refrained. Now the bait is a lot more tempting. Just to re-confirm, these are AF drives?

Check one of the emails you received, there should be an option to change which deals you receive... or place your email in the bottom corner to subscribe to Shell Shocker deals. http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx
February 8, 201115 yr I almost bit yesterday, but refrained. Now the bait is a lot more tempting. Just to re-confirm, these are AF drives? Looks to be non-AF format. http://www.hitachigst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/techdocs/02D9197756A273D0862577D50024EC1D/$file/DS5K3000_ds.pdf Anyone know what rpm these drives are? According to the review below, 5940 RPM. http://www.servethehome.com/hitachi-5k3000-2tb-35-green-drive-silentspin-review-benchmarks/

At the bottom of the email there is a link to "Manage your e-mail subscriptions here", that allows you to request the shell shocker preview email. I didn't find a way to navigate to this page from the Web Site.
February 8, 201115 yr Torn if I should get 2 or 4 I know 2 will give me a lot more space to fill up, just not sure they will be this cheap again when the time comes to get my other 2. $60 for 2TB is the cheapest I personally ever seen, so might just get all 4 now.

If you have a Bank of America credit card, Newegg is on there for another 1% discount under the Add It Up section Get 4!
February 8, 201115 yr AGH! And I just ordered one the other day when they had them with the $20 off code reducing it down to $79.99. Now the question is, should I go for another?!?!
February 8, 201115 yr I would since the price is low but I'm waiting for 1pm PST time for price to change so I can order a drive or 2.
February 8, 201115 yr if you use a different credit card and setup a new account, for your wife, brother, etc you can order 2. The rebate limit is 2 per household.
February 8, 201115 yr I just ordered a second one(ordrered 1st last night at $79). It hasn't been charged to my CC(same as 1st order) yet, but we'll see. I also called NewEgg and they gave me $10 back(NewEgg rocks for this kind of thing) for the drive last night. I did this BEFORE placing the new order. So the only hurdle now is the rebate, since I'll have 2 reciepts. /justme EDIT>>They voided the 2nd order. Oh well, I'll just do what chooch suggests. I keep a 2nd account(different CC) in my wife's name for such issue's<<EDIT
February 8, 201115 yr FWIW. NewEgg just sold out. A friend of mine was at the start of the checkout process when his order got bounced.
February 9, 201115 yr Funny- even though it's 3:45am on the West Coast, they seem to be back in stock..... with the price back to normal, naturally.
February 11, 201115 yr Drive arrived this afternoon. Unfortunately, it's DOA. Multiple cables, power connectors, 3 different controllers, RAID/AHCI/IDE modes. Not coming to life.
February 11, 201115 yr Mine arrived yesterday. Preclear started late last night. About 300G through post read. Looks perfect so far.
