February 8, 201115 yr Hi all, I'm on the Unraid solution for over two weeks now. Just gone from Basic to Plus over the Super Bowl weekend. Over the weeks, I've gone from 4.6 to 4.7b1 to 4.7. The verdict thus far is I'm loving it. Most importantly, I trust it better than my previous Readynas Duo NAS solution. Since I'm relying on Unraid to keep my files safe and enjoying music and videos served by Unraid, I would like to know as much about it as possible to support myself. Based on what I've read, the common problems are disk, memory, cable, power, controller related. For disk verification, I'll rely on the pre clear script for now. For the other problems, I'll need to learn how to read and decipher the syslog. I would like to reference this thread http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=4068.0 where the suspects of the problem dicussed are memory and power. I've downloaded the syslog but couldn't understand why power and cabling were suspected. Can someone tell me what (keywords) to look out for power and cable related problems. Also, would appreciate if someome can do the same for controller related problems. Finally, what other problems, uncommon or uncommon, can befall the Unraid system other than my own stupidity? Anyhow, after running unraid blissfuly for some weeks, I'll be rebuilding from scratch. All the disks in Unraid haven't been pre cleared. I just wish to start on the right footing for problem free operation later on. My raid card, most cables are new so I would like to spot any problem with them before Unraid moved too far along. Most worryingly I've a cheap 450 watts no name PSU. Thank you!
