February 9, 201115 yr I was thinking about a couple of plugins, and it would be advantageous to be able to flag a drive as read-only at the user level, so that no user writes could occur, but software running on the server writing directly to /dev/mdX could write to a drive while parity continued to be updated. For example, I was thinking about a plugin that could zero out a drive so it could be removed from the array.... but I need to protect the drive from other writes in order to trust the parity. There have also been some people who mentioned other uses for making a drive read-only.
