New to unRAID and want to upgrade to a bigger SSD

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I'm a total noobie to unRAID and just started using it 2 days ago. I've installed multiple 'Apps' like Home Assistant, ruTorrent, AdGuard, etc. I'm using unRAID with a Pentium G4560 in a small form-factor PC.

The only problem at this moment is; I have a 128 GB Intel NVMe SSD. The capacity is very low and performance isn't great, because it's a bit older now.

I want to upgrade to a 1 TB NVMe SSD to store most stuff on and attach my 4 TB HDD for longer-term data like Plex stuff.

I have two questions:

  • How can I easily migrate to a new SSD?
  • What would be a great NVMe SSD to run multiple Docker-containers on and do stuff like download, home automation and some other stuff?

Thank you!

Is that assigned as cache? If yes what filesystem and can you connect both devices at the same time?

Hi @JorgeB,

No it's the only drive in the computer. I don't have any other disks in it. Besides that I can't add another NVMe drive inside it.

I'm looking to add a data drive, but this will work through USB.

Thank you!

Then you need to copy the data manually somewhere else, like a USB disk, then copy back to the new device.
