Cron script to power up (WoL) and shutdown the backup unraid server

Featured Replies

Hi, I bought an unraid server and been using it for a while which I am happy with. Now I decided to build another server and use it as a backup. Based on my research it seems rsync with cron is the most powerful solution to sync data between Unraid servers. Open to different suggestions. Google helped me write a basic cron script which I can run and schedule to copy/syn data between the servers.

However, I now need to expand the cron script so it runs once a week and do the following:

1. power up the backup unraid server over WoL. (dont have IPMI)

2. run the cron job to backup/sync data

3. shut down the remote server

Would appreciate some help with points 1 and 3 please.

thanks in advance.

I don't know if this would be useful to you at all ...

Not sure if it would give you the ability to do what you want, or give you a starting point.

For actual scripting you may want "wol" tools that are not currently available through the nerdpack plugin but could possibly be added..
