[SOLVED] Ryzen 3700 unraid disk erros

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm trying to set up a new Unraid server, and I'm having a LOT of trouble getting it to run on the AMD platform.

I tried all of these suggested fixed I could find:

Adding 'rcu_nocbs=0-11' in syslinux config

Set Global C-state control to disabled

Set Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle

Update BIOS to latest version

Replace sata cables

Replace powersupply

None of those helped.

I have a asus prime x470, Ryzen 3700x

Am I missing something?  I realy need help

I already did. Last version (5837) from asus. nor 5 minutes disk error.

Some AMD boards have issues with the SATA controller and Linux, sometimes BIOS update or upgrading to v6.9 helps, since you already did both not much more I can suggest.

So the solution will be change the board, i have one ROG, i will  try see it helps.

Yes, that or use an ad-don controller, but note that one of the NVMe devices is also having issues, so probably best to try a different board if that's an option.

I change the board for a asus ROG b450. After 26 minutes disk error. Logs go in attach

The board is updated

Set Global C-state control to disabled

Set Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle

Replaced sata cables again....

I don't know what to do.

Is possible this problem is cause by a  VM with hiveos this configs?

  • Community Expert

Can't see the disk errors due to log spam.

Now i have the vm disable. I'm testing see if the erros shows again

Is from the VM of hiveos. I start the VM 5minutes later erros in array. I thinks is because of the sata option in the vm hardrive.

But if some expert from unraid can confirme.

Do you mean you're using SATA for the vdisk Bus? That shouldn't be a problem, but you can try a different setting..

Hey, its fix. It was the asus prime board and the OC on the gpu (rx5700) was causing the sistem to crash.

thanks

May I ask what board you switched to? I'm Running a 3700x with similar issues. And it's getting old to maneuver in the failed disks all the time. Would like a reliable system. I only have problems with the disks running on my board-connected disks. Disks via controller card is working flawlessly.

Thanks in advance

hey, i had this one asus prime x470, and i change to this one asus ROG strix b450-f. My advice is if you are gona buy a new board choose other brand like msi, asrock or gigabyte. Lately i had lots of problems with asus, is in board, routers, phones etc...

I'm also running an asus one atm. Prime B450 I think. Cant remember the exact model in my head, but I think that's the one.
I've actually never had issues with AsRock boards before and I've had quite a lot of them, so I might take your advice on that.
This was my first Asus board, and I'm not thrilled about my experience.
Does anyone in this thread know what to stay away from regarding these disk issues on AMD systems?
Is it a chipset problem, manufacturer problem or completely random?

I think the chipset isn't the problem. because the board that i had problems is a x470. Now I'm using a b450
