[Solved]Reinserting an old hard drive back into the array

I increased the size of my disks to gain more storage, except for one one TB device, which I left  remaining  in place. (I just removed the power and data cables.) It has now been close to four years ago since I did this, and during this time there have been changes to the data. Now I want to reinsert this drive back into the array and not sure how to proceed to avoid adding this old, outdated data to parity.

 

Originally,  I used the preclear plugin,  but I understand unRaid now does this automatically. Do I just assign it to a slot and let unRaid remove the old data and reset all the bits to zero? I assume parity is still valid during this preclear process and will only start including this drive after the preclear has been successfully completed?

If you assign a drive to a previously unused slot Unraid will clear the disk in the background then add it to the array maintaining parity.

One other question. The new disk was formatted for the xfs file system while the other, existing disk were formatted for reiserfs.  Will be an issue? I must have missed the option to select the file system .

The system does not ask for file system, it uses the default FS from Disk Settings.

 

ReiserFS is still supported but not recommended anymore.
