[SOLVED] Too Many Wrong and/or Missing Disks

Featured Replies

Guys,

I tried to upgrade to version 6.9.0 - the upgrade seemed to be going fine and after completion it read "REBOOT SERVER" which I did.  When the unraid did not start in 3-4 minutes I went to see the server monitor and I noticed that it's in an endless boot loop - I took a snapshot of the screen (see below) and thought that there was something wrong with the boot usb.  I replaced it with a backup that I had and it booted fine but the backup disk configuration changed from the time the backup was taken.  I have a record of the new configuration and I updated the configuration to reflect what I know the disks are (see below) - and that's when I stopped afraid to do damage the server irreparably.

Questions:

(1) did I do the right thing up to now?

(2) if do how do I proceed

(3) if not how do I proceed

(4) how do I replace the damaged usb to create a new backup.

Thanks for all your help.

Best regards,

Go to Tools -> New config

Then re-assign all the disks as they should be, check "parity is already valid" before array start, start array.

Hi, thanks,

I'm sorry I don't quite understand the steps to be followed.

Let me see if I understood:

1) First go to TOOLS-> New Config

     Preserve Current Assignments "None"

check "I want to do this"

     then APPLY

following that

(2) re-assign disks

(3) Start the array and check parity is already valid

(4) Do parity check

Appreciate your help,

Thanks

Correct, make sure you double check the assignments, most importantly don't assign any data disk to a parity slot.

Many thanks for your support.

Server went up OK no errors after parity check.

Appreciate your help, thanks again.
