March 4, 20215 yr Hello, I've had Unraid installed on a new server (my first build) for a week now and am loving it! I've managed to work out a number of things, however I have 3 things that I'm stuck on and would appreciate if someone would be able to assist. 1. MakeMKV is very slow. I have used Makemkv before on other pcs and the ripping speed is ussually around 2-4x (with the same bluray interal drive), however with the Docker I have installed (I've tried old and new dvds and bluray) the speed is always around .9 - 1x Are there some drivers I need to install? Or some settings that arent right? 2. Shutdown & Startup. When I shutdown the system from the Dashboard, and then turn the server back on, it will always take around 5-7hours to chekc the drives. I don't intend to shutdown the server often, however as I'm rearanging its location etc I've been wondering if this is meant to happen, as its quite frustrating to have to wait this long untill I can continue using the server. Am I doing something wrong? Or is that just how Unraid is designed? 3. Fan control. The fans on the server (1x cpu, 1x front case, 1x back case) are always running at 100%, even in the middle of the night when theres no reason for this to happen. On a standard pc, you ussually have software that will allow you to adjust the fan speed, but I can't seem to find a way to do this in Unraid. I simply want the fans to run at their required speed when in use, however when the server is idle, they slow down. Is there a way to make this happen? Server specs: Ryzen 5 3600 CPU ASRock B550 PG Velocita AM4 ATX Motherboard 2 x WD Red 4TB HDD An old Gigabyte 960 GPU 2x 8GB RAM 2666Mhz Thank you for your time reading this. This is typically caused by a a docker contains or a VM. It is worth checking if you can successfully stop the array when not doing a shutdown or reboot. You can also try stopping the docker and VM services before rebooting to check this is the cause. If it turns out that it is then you take steps to identify the culprit to fix that item and/or increase the shutdown timeouts. You could also look into installing and using the Parity Check Tuning plugin to offload such checks to only running outside prime time to minimise the hit on normal use.

I also discovered regarding Makemkv, that I had Ripper running at the same time 🙄 so with that disabled its working great. Can anyuone help me regarding the fan control please?
March 5, 20215 yr There are plugins in Community Application that can help you manage your Fans. I do not have the specific names since I am at work. You should try that.
