[Solved] 2.5gb network card setup help

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help I currently have motherboard nic 1gb but have installed a new 2.5gb pci card. Mb nic is eth0 and card is eth1 in the network settings. Is it as simple as changing them in interface rules so that 2.5card is then eth0 and vice versa?

Will the card adopt the previous static ip address previously set with Mb nic?

Does both have to be on a different ip range before I swap?

Or just disable the built-in nic in the BIOS, unless your switches support failover, bonding etc.

If I disable the nic would I have to preconfigure the card with my settings that my mb nic uses 1st?

Will the card just assume eth0 with previous static ip and dns settings?

When plug. Cable in and give it an up address and disconnect mb nic I can't login to server gui

6.9.1 mate

Or use the 1gbe to set up pfsense and control your firewall.

I'm struggling to get the bloody card working never mind a pfsense lost my server last night playing about with it. Thought it was as a simple as changing the order in the interface rules and reboot but No 😂

Nothing too fancy just moved card to top slot in interface rules and mother board nic to bottom and rebooted, i swear i did this the last time 🤪. Would it be possibel to allocate the now unsed nic too pi hole and give its static ip address ?
