March 18, 20215 yr Planning to use this HP Proliant Microserver G7 with AMD Turion Neo II, 1.5GHz as my backup Unraid NAS. I'm preclearing 2 units of 8 TB SATA HDD. It's taking 100% CPU. I can add memory to it. Will the processor affect file transfer performance if it acts as a NAS? With pre-clearing, I can see that the speed is slower than another machine I used to compare. But I told myself that's pre-clearing. What about actual NAS use? Since I'm limited by the Gigabit connection on this NAS, does it mean it won't matter? In the other machine, slightly faster old PC, it's reading is about 200+ MBps. Writing is also slightly slower, but I wasn't able to screenshot it. Plan to get a few basic docker apps running on it. For those not familiar with this device, here's the pic. It has 4 bays. I can have an IcyDock 4 x 2.5" bay on it, and connect it to an HBA controller. It has a PCI-E x16 2.0 slot.
