Hi, So I'm very new to all of this. but I have some questions and fingered this would be a good place to ask them.

My setup is currently a collection of second hand parts, consisting of a

intel i5 3470

Gigabyte GA-H16M-MD2 with a Bios update

16GB of DDR3 for Kingston

a 120 SSD

a 1TB HDD

a 2TB HDD

i have no redundancy setup

Currently just running Freenas. as of next week i'll be making the switch to unraid and running freenes as a VM to handle storage.

down the line I'm also wanting to run a windows server as well as a windows 10 VM with a Graphics card past through and a Minecraft server

so my questions what upgrades would i need to make this posable how many cores would i need to look at?

how much RAM can i Realistically getaway with?

would i be able to remote in to the VM with the Graphics card and see any performance from this? (i'm wanting to use it as a backup gaming system to reduce were on other computers on the network)?

and in terms of SSD/HDD what would be the ideal layout for basic local redundant storage?
