March 21, 20215 yr Forgive me I'm testing this out before I buy this NAS software. So far I'm almost sold on it. But my question is more on the Cache drives. Now can the cache pool work similar to how the Array works. Like where you can have different size drives. Like say I have 3 SSD drives I could install and 1 is 512Gb and 2 are 240Gb. Can I have like equivalent of a Stripe pool? and get 700 some thing gigs? Just thinking I would like to have a larger area for like my App's and maybe VM's. And does the Perfer setting work like I think I understand it. The move schedule will like copy to the aray but keep the running config on the Cache. Just this Cache part of this NAS OS is new to me and trying to understand all the settings and how I can use it. So far the product is 20 times easier than FreeNAS or now renamed to TrueNAS. Its also much better than OMV which I'm not sure that even qualify as a NAS OS anymore. I'm not even sure what to call it now days. Cause 1/2 the forum members discourage setting up a RAID Array. So not even sure what to call it other than a make shift server OS.
March 21, 20215 yr Author Wow I feel dumb now. That mostly answers my questions enough. I'll just need to add some SSD's and test it now.
