unraid.net (6.9.1) This site can’t be reached

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have installed the unraid.net plugin, I have ssl set to auto, I have provisioned the ssl certificate and forwarded the port correctly, activated remote access with no issues but I only show as having local access on the dashboard and if I try the long hash address for the service I get a This site can’t be reached error, I can only access my server by typing the local ip with https:// at the front.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks

Hopefully this helps:

  • The dashboard has a smart link. If it detects you are on the same network as the server it will show you the "Local Access" url, if it detects you are external then it will show you the "Remote Access" url (assuming that is enabled)

  • While on your LAN, if you visit http://<ip address> it will automatically redirect you to https://yourpersonalhash.unraid.net:port

  • On the Settings -> Management Access page, the "HTTPS port" setting is the port to use when connecting internally on your LAN.  443 is the most convenient because then you don't have to include the port in the url (443 is the default port for https)

  • On the Settings -> Management Access -> Unraid.net page, the "WAN port" is the port to use when connecting from the outside. For extra security, this should be a high random number, not 443. And of course, you need to setup a port forward in your router from the WAN port to the internal port.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to reply... The problem I'm having is when unraid redirects to https://yourpersonalhash.unraid.net:port I get the this website can't be reached error.

The only way I can access my server is then through https://192.168.1.201

On your client computer (the one running the browser, not Unraid) go to a command prompt and type:

ping yourpersonalhash.unraid.net

Does it resolve to the correct IP address for your server?

Hi,

No, I get an error message - ping request could not find host. Please check the name and try again

It seems that DNS Rebinding Protection was added to your network after setting this up.

Please see this page for more details:
  https://wiki.unraid.net/My_Servers#A_note_regarding_DNS_Rebinding_Protection

You'll either need to resolve the DNS Rebinding issue or go back to Settings -> Management Access and set "Use SSL/TLS" to No.

That is strange... When I first added the unraid.net plugin I got the rebinding error... I tried to provision the certificate about 30 minutes later and it work.. The hash address worked and remote access worked for about a day... Then I started to get the error.

Seems like my router is rebinding but intermittently? (there is no setting for it in the router)

I'll just have to leave ssl off, thanks for all the help
