"Replacement Disk Too Small" but both were WD RED 6TB

Hello,

 

Had a drive (WD RED 6TB) fail, replacement drive arrived today but when i try to set it into the same slot (Disk 2) as the previous drive I get "The replacement disk must be as big or bigger than the original." and can't start the array.

Original Disk: WD RED 6TB (WD60EFRX)

Replacement: WD RED Pro 6TB (WD6003FFBX)

 

Specs:
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING

AMD Ryzen 5 2600

LSI 6Gbps SAS HBA LSI 9200-8i

 

/dev/sdh:
 max sectors   = 11721045168/11721045168, HPA is disabled

Check/replace power and data cables to the new disk.

 

Thanks for the reply. Drives are mounted in drive bays, so there are no cables to each disk - i have however checked (and reseated) the SAS / Power cables to the backplanes.

 

I am able to add the drive to the array in another slot, just not the same slot the failed drive was in.

 

Updated logs attached following system boot after checking power/data cables

Current 6TB disk is the correct size (for 6TB), but the disk that failed for some reason was larger than normal:

 

[sizeSb] => 5860765964

 

This is the normal size for 6TB:

 

[sizeSb] => 5860522532

 

You'll need to replace it with an 8TB drive, or manually copy the data and do a new config.
