Getting 502 bad gateway error when I try to change root password or update plugins

Featured Replies

I am not quite sure how I fixed this, but I noticed my letsencrypt was not working - once I got the certificates sorted out, I was able to update plugins and change my password - not sure how or why this worked, but it did. Or it could have been some unrelated changed I made.

I have been trying to change my root password but nothing happens. I looked at the log and saw this:

Mar 28 16:08:26 Tower nginx: 2021/03/28 16:08:26 [error] 9690#9690: *89337 connect() to unix:/var/run/emhttpd.socket failed (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) while connecting to upstream, client: 192.168.1.35, server: , request: "POST /update.htm HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://unix:/var/run/emhttpd.socket:/update.htm", host: "192.168.1.134", referrer: "http://192.168.1.134/Users/UserEdit?name=root"

Then I tried to update a few community plugins and got a 502 gateway error - and the log showed this:

Mar 28 16:18:01 Tower nginx: 2021/03/28 16:18:01 [error] 9690#9690: *91389 connect() to unix:/var/run/emhttpd.socket failed (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) while connecting to upstream, client: 192.168.1.35, server: , request: "GET /logging.htm?cmd=/plugins/dynamix.plugin.manager/scripts/plugin&arg1=update&arg2=community.applications.plg&csrf_token=20B7CAF9195CEDBA&done=Done HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://unix:/var/run/emhttpd.socket:/logging.htm?cmd=/plugins/dynamix.plugin.manager/scripts/plugin&arg1=update&arg2=community.applications.plg&csrf_token=20B7CAF9195CEDBA&done=Done", host: "192.168.1.134", referrer: "http://192.168.1.134/Plugins"

The major change I made today was to upgrade my 12 year-old USB stick. I transferred my license over. I copied everything in /config over. Everything has been working (so far), except this. Advice is appreciated.

Thanks.
