March 30, 20215 yr Hello all, I use Unraid since december 2019 and i am totally in love. I learned Docker, bought a Xeon CPU and Graphic Card to set a Windows 10 VM for encoding, use Tonido for remote access, etc, etc... love it. BUT, one thing i didn't manage to figure out is how to properly configure my network settings. In my home, we have a CPL network (i guess in english it is PLC, for Power-line communication) which is limited to 350 Mb/s. So i added a PCI-card to have 1 Gb/s ethernet port and plug in directly in my Macbook Pro (well not directly, Apple and adaptaters, you know). In Unraid, i have : - my server on 192.168.0.25 (so the PLC-home network with internet and access from outside with Tonido) - anoter ip adress set to 192.168.2.2 (PCI-card with gigabit ethernet) to use with my macbook. I would like to know if it is correct, or if i have another choice ? In an ideal world, i would only have my server on the home network, but able to use the gigabit direct connection to my computer when plug-in directly. Thanks !! K.
March 30, 20215 yr If that works for you then it's fine. How does you Mac access the Internet? Via WiFi? You could add a gigabit Ethernet switch between your PLC network and your Unraid server and plug your Mac into that. That way they could all exist on the 192.168.0.x network.
March 30, 20215 yr Author In fact, it's not working so well. At least for Tonido, i may have change something and i can't access it anymore. When i try to tweak the network settings (with bounding and so), i cannot reach UNRAID anymore. And i feel that, unfortunately, my motherboard died same time, so i order a new mobo + cpu + ram which should arrive soon. So i don't really know if Tonido wasn't working because the primary ethernet was set on the "macbook network" for better performance, or no. But i guess so. Right now my setup is : - PLC to TP-Link router (network 192.168.0.x) - Macbook reaching the WIFI of the router (network .0.x) - UNRAID directly connected to the router (network .0.x) - UNRAID directly connected to the macbook via a PCI-ethernet card. (network .2.x) Thanks
March 30, 20215 yr I've never used Tonido. However, 3 hours ago, John_M said: You could add a gigabit Ethernet switch between your PLC network and your Unraid server and plug your Mac into that. That way they could all exist on the 192.168.0.x network.
