(SOLVED) Machine Check Events detected - what to do now?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've been running unraid for a couple of weeks and I'm loving it so far - thanks to this helpful community and its countless guides.

But there's one thing I'm not able to solve on my own:

After every reboot I get an error message from the "Fix Common Problems" plugin:

Quote

ERRORS FOUND: Machine Check Events detected on your server

SUGGESTED FIX: Your server has detected hardware errors. You should install mcelog via the NerdPack plugin, post your diagnostics and ask for assistance on the unRaid forums. The output of mcelog (if installed) has been logged

The log gives me this:

Quote

Apr 2 02:29:56 kurt root: Fix Common Problems: Error: Machine Check Events detected on your server
Apr 2 02:29:56 kurt root: mcelog: Family 6 Model 92 CPU: only decoding architectural errors
Apr 2 02:29:56 kurt root: mcelog: warning: 8 bytes ignored in each record
Apr 2 02:29:56 kurt root: mcelog: consider an update

I already tried memtest (this never hurts, right?), it ran for 24 hours without reporting any errors.

I'm running unraid 6.9.1 on a QNAP ts-253be.

What can I do to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for your help!

Certain combinations of hardware will issue an MCE when the cpu cores come online during boot.  Safe to ignore.  This is what's happening with you

Thanks a lot for the explanation, @Squid! I'll sleep better at night.
