February 19, 201115 yr My network speed to my server is really slow and my syslog looks like its showing some errors, any idea? Edit....the only thing I added in the last two days was my APC UPS, would that do anything? syslog-2011-02-18.txt
February 19, 201115 yr Author I keep seeing this repeated Feb 18 09:27:19 Tower kernel: drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-core.c: usb_submit_urb(ctrl) failed (System) Feb 18 09:27:21 Tower kernel: usb 6-1: reset low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 (Drive related)

It seems to keep resetting the one you are currently using.
February 19, 201115 yr Author Thanks Joe, I will try that when I get home. Would that cause my server to be slow though? I couldn't even transfer a 5 gig file
February 19, 201115 yr Thanks Joe, I will try that when I get home. Would that cause my server to be slow though? I couldn't even transfer a 5 gig file I don't see anything in the syslog except the usb resets. The ethernet link seems to be connecting at 1000Mb/s. The UPS seems to be on battery? Feb 18 08:02:11 Tower apcupsd[1652]: Battery disconnected. Feb 18 08:02:11 Tower kernel: drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-core.c: usb_submit_urb(ctrl) failed Which APC UPS are you using? Joe L.
February 19, 201115 yr Author I'm using the SUA1500RM2U, http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUA1500RM2U&total_watts=50 It's not on battery. I rebooted the server last night but I haven't had time to test it out yet. When I get home I will try and transfer a file and see if it works, if not I will post another log Edit....also I'm using the older version of the ups script in unmenu, not the newer one. I think the newer one said something like use the older one

It may work better for you. Only way to know is to give it a try.
February 19, 201115 yr Author thanks Joe, I might give the newer one a shot. If it does exit, will I get an email about it, I have SSMTP set up and working?
February 19, 201115 yr Author Hey Joe, here is my new log. I tried another USB port but my network is still super slow. Do I still have the same error? Would using a serial cable make a difference? It has to be something with the server because I can transfer files from my mac mini to my macbook pro fine. Any idea? I will keep testing some things. syslog-2011-02-19.txt
February 19, 201115 yr Author So the smart report below looks OK? So I guess its not the drive. I can copy files to other drives on the array but not to the drive below, any idea? February 20, 201115 yr The errors are USB related, but I thought the issue was a network issue. I would look to see if the USB driver and the network driver are sharing the same interrupt.
February 20, 201115 yr Author I didn't know if the USB error would/could effect the network issue. I might just hook up the ups with a serial cable, that should get rid of the errors at least. I have no idea why it's so slow, I can copy the files to the other drives but not this one. What would cause one drive to be slow?
