Cpmiller22
Hi, I’m building a new server to replace an aging ReadNAS and have been thinking about going with Unraid. I have 4x4tb 3.5 drives and a 1tB SSD nvme drive. I have about 8TB of videos. I also plan to run a handful of docker images and maybe the occasional VM. My question is, what options do I have to setup the drives? If I was running Ubuntu, I would run the OS and docker images on try SSD and store the media on a raid5 array using the 3.5 drives. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Quote Link to comment
turbojazz
For unraid, I think the obvious configuration would be an array with 1 parity using the 3.5HDD, giving you 12TB storage and then the 1TB NVME as Cache Pool. Appdata (used by Docker Containers) and Domain (used by default for VMs) shares will automatically be configured to use the cache pool. 1 Quote Link to comment
