Cant switch my 10G nic to eth0

Recommended Posts

When I run ifcong -s it does not look like the 10gb card is even showing up:

root@Tower:~# ifconfig -s
Iface      MTU    RX-OK RX-ERR RX-DRP RX-OVR    TX-OK TX-ERR TX-DRP TX-OVR Flg
bond0     1500     7902      0    104 0          8381      0      0      0 BMPmRU
br0       1500     7698      0      0 0          5735      0      0      0 BMRU
docker0   1500        0      0      0 0             0      0      0      0 BMU
eth0      1500     7901      0      0 0          8380      0      0      0 BMsRU
lo       65536      232      0      0 0           232      0      0      0 LRU

However it does show up as a system device along with the intel 1gb nic that is built into my motherboard.

[8086:1539] 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation I211 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03)

[1fc9:4027] 07:00.0 Ethernet controller: Tehuti Networks Ltd. TN9710P 10GBase-T/NBASE-T Ethernet Adapter

Am I just missing a driver or how can I setup my NAS to use that 10gb card?

Not sure on the driver you need.

These are release notes for 6.9.0

These drivers are omitted:

Highpoint RocketRaid r750 (does not build)

Highpoint RocketRaid rr3740a (does not build)

Tehuti Networks tn40xx (does not build)

If you require one of these drivers, please create a Bug Report and we'll spend some time looking for alternatives.  Better yet, pester the manufacturer of the controller and get them to update their drivers.

lspci  -k will show kernel modules for device

Also if its showing us as a device would that not also mean it already has a driver?

No.  The system is reporting what is connected, that does not mean that Linux has a driver for it or that it will load.

Tehuti tn40xx drivers do not build and load with current Linux kernels.

From the spec for the card:

Chipset: Tehuti Networks TN4010

That is one of the drivers that unRAID 6.9.x does not support because it will not build in Linux.

Any 10 gb nic that you would recommend for use with unraid?

ASUS XG-C100C seems to be used my many.  It's a good one if you want an RJ45 connection.

There are also several models of Intel cards x520/x540/x550.  I believe these also use RJ45 connections.

There are some Mellanox cards that several in these forums use as well but those use SFP+ fiber cables.
