They are different from the Corsair CMPSU-650s in both construction and features. The biggest difference between this PSU and the CMPSU-650 is that this one has a variable fan that will vary it's speed and even spin down based on temperature. The other primary difference is that this PSU is 85% efficient, as opposed to the CMPSU-650 which is 80% efficient. The single +12V rail on this PSU has 53A, which is more than enough for 20+ drives. As these are brand new PSUs they haven't withstood the test of time yet, but at least on paper they look like a nice upgrade from the CMPSU-650 and happily are going for the same price (or even $10 cheaper after the MIR).
