April 16, 20215 yr Yesterday I replaced 2tb drive with a 8tb drive. Rebuild completed successfully. Today I removed a 4tb drive following the directions here https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Storage_Management#Removing_data_disk.28s.29 I am now running an parity check as recommended and I am getting many sync errors. Can anyone tell if I have made a serious error? Thanks. tower-diagnostics-20210416-1711.zip

April 17, 20215 yr I would guess that you removed the disk and when you started the array maybe you had The 'Parity is valid' box checked and then afterwards ran a manual parity check. If so then the parity check will come up with many errors as the orginal parity would be incorrect. I would just stop the parity check. Stop the array then goto tools new configuration. Select preserve all Then click apply This will keep all the disks in the same place. Then go back to the main tab. Double check that the disks there are correct. Then start the array. make sure not to check the 'Parity is valid' box Then a new parity sync should start automatically.

This was supposed to maintain parity. 7 hours ago, SpaceInvaderOne said: I would guess that you removed the disk and when you started the array maybe you had The 'Parity is valid' box checked and then afterwards ran a manual parity check. I am guessing I did something to invalidate parity but I am pretty sure I followed the procedure correctly. Anyways -- I have started a parity rebuild as you suggested and it is proceeding along with no errors. Thanks for the responses!

Love you.
