pgordash
I upgraded from 6.1.9 to 6.9.2 recently. Basically did a fresh install of 6.9.2. I am trying to connect to the new server as root using Putty on Windows 10, but I get "Using keyboard-interactive authentication". Since root has no password, I just hit enter at the password field. I then am greeted with an "Access denied". What am I doing wrong? This should be simple with a fresh install with no plugins or apps. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the log: Quote Apr 17 12:17:05 Unraid sshd[13488]: Connection from 192.168.1.165 port 51739 on 192.168.1.4 port 22 rdomain "" Apr 17 12:17:08 Unraid sshd[13488]: Postponed keyboard-interactive for root from 192.168.1.165 port 51739 ssh2 [preauth] Apr 17 12:18:10 Unraid sshd[13525]: pam_unix(sshd:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=ssh ruser= rhost=192.168.1.165 user=root Apr 17 12:18:12 Unraid sshd[13488]: error: PAM: Authentication failure for root from 192.168.1.165 Apr 17 12:18:12 Unraid sshd[13488]: Failed keyboard-interactive/pam for root from 192.168.1.165 port 51739 ssh2 Apr 17 12:18:12 Unraid sshd[13488]: Postponed keyboard-interactive for root from 192.168.1.165 port 51739 ssh2 [preauth] Quote Link to comment
strike
I'm not sure I remember correctly, but I think I saw something in the 6.9 release notes that it's not allowed with no root password anymore. Which is a good thing. Quote Link to comment
John_M
It's documented here: https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Release_Notes/Unraid_OS_6.9.0#SSH_Improvements Quote Link to comment
