New unMENU packages for SABnzbd, Sick Beard and Couch Potato

I wasn't able to get back to this until today, but I made the modifications you suggested.  I didn't want to reboot, so I also changed the scripts in /etc/rc.d/unraid.d/ as mentioned.  I commented out those first two lines, but just removed the "su nobody -c" part from that third line.

Fired up both sabnzbd and sickbeard, and I can navigate directories properly in sickbeard.  For those of you on 4.7, I think that's the fix.  I don't know if it's too much to ask, but is there a way to do a version check to select between the two cases?  That might be nice for people still on the stable builds.

Thanks for all your help and for creating these scripts.  Even with the hiccup, it still saved me tons of time.  I spent probably a full day getting sickbeard set up on my Mac the first time, so these are a huge time saver!

I saw in the release notes that a version string has been added as of 5.0 beta 2. But I don't think that helps us detect older versions. All we could do is check if we are less than 5.0 beta 2, or the specific version since then. Does anyone else know a reliable way to detect earlier unRAID versions?

Ok.  The error I'm getting on reboot is:

sh: ./._SABnzbd-0.5.6-src.tar.gz.auto_install: cannot execute binary file

There is no mention about Sick Beard at all.  Strangely, if I log into the console as root and run SABnzbd-0.5.6-src.tar.gz.auto_install, it works perfectly and starts right up.  I don't know what is causing the above.

I think Sick Beard isn't mentioned because although I originally set it up for auto-install on reboot, I've since updated using the Sick Beard interface to the latest code.  I run the Sick Beard autoinstall as I did for SABnzbd above and it starts right up.  Now in UnMenu's package manager, it shows as installed, but that there's a version mistmatch and it wants me to reinstall the old version instead.  I'm not sure Sick Beard can be restarted upon boot if you ever update it, as it looks like it's checking the hash of the zip file and sees they are different.

One easy way, assuming this doesn't exist, is to maybe just put a switch in the configuration info, like you do for install and log directories.  It's not as nice as automatic, but it'd be a way for people to switch between the two without getting down to modifying scripts.

The /boot/config/go script is trying to execute *.auto_install, which in this case includes ._*.auto_install. OS X creates ._* files to store extended meta data for files on file systems other than the native OS X file system. There is another package that can delete these files from your shares on a schedule.

The latest version of the Couch Potato and Sick Beard installers skips the version check for this very reason, to prevent unMENU for disabling auto-install on reboot. If you just want to update your existing package to skip the version check, comment out the PACKAGE_VERSION_TEST line near the bottom and change the PACKAGE_VERSION_STRING line to "undefined". See the latest downloads available at the original post for an example.

You were right.  After getting rid of those and changing the version check, I'm now up and running fully.  Thanks for all your help!

Edit:  Now != Not.  Ooops!

I hope you mean "now" up and running :)

How does one update couchpotato for newer releases? It say "Version 16bf872", not sure if this is the most current version as the website indicates Version 29 as being the latest.

Does one update to the newest version but downloading a tar from github and then copying in config.ini and data.db? Did this, once started couchpotato reported an UNKNOWN VERSION??

Use the update feature from inside the Couch Potato interface. It knows how to update itself. Unknown version means it is a source code install (not GitHub) and no update has been performed by Couch Potato (thus, it doesn't know what version it is). Just do an update from inside Couch Potato to fix that. To avoid the version mismatch in unMENU packages list and keep auto re-install working, download and install from the latest package (see original post) or see previous posts about modifying the relevant lines in the package configuration file.

Cheers.

hi,

i'm having a bit of trouble getting sabnzbd to get installed in unmenu. i was able to finagle sickbeard and couchpotato into working - I had to manually start them as they wouldn't start up via the start scripts. When I install them via unmenu it shows as installed but it doesn't start. I then go to User Scripts and click on start, it says "Sickbeard started" and "Couch Potato started", but I don't see it running via 'ps aux' in my terminal.

As for SABnzbd - I've downloaded your 3 .conf files into my /boot/packages folder and when I go to unmenu > PkgMangager > Select SABnzbd-0.5.6-src.tar.gz SABnzbd - I see it says "Not Downloaded". So I go in there, click on download and get this in my web broswer:

http://tower:8080/pkg_manager?download-SABnzbd-0.5.6-src.tar.gz=Download+SABnzbd-0.5.6-src.tar.gz

e

</BODY></HTML>

Any idea how to get SABnzbd working via your unmenu tool? And any idea why sickbeard/couch potato aren't starting up right away? I'm not sure exactly where to look but if you point me there I can grab whatever info you need me to.

Thanks.

Sorry for such a question, but is the update feature the link on the bottom of the about link in the configuration? When i clicked force check, i have yet to see the version number change in some time? Is version 16bf872 the latest version?

If you click on the gear icon (settings) the first page should have shutdown and restart buttons, and the version and a check for new version link. If a new version is found it should say on every page "Update (diff) available: update now". I don't know an "unknown version" installed right now so I can't see exactly what you're seeing. I believe that when the version is "unknown" and you perform an update, it just downloads the latest code and stores the version number so that next time it will know when a new version is released and what the changes were. If this is not working, it could be a file permissions issue. Are the Couch Potato files and folders all owned by the same user that runs the application?

I've noticed that one of either Sabnzbd or Sick Beard hits the hard drive pretty regularly.  If I manually spin down the SNAP drive, about every 10 minutes or so I hear it spin up, perform some disk accesses, and then go idle.  Sabnzbd has nothing in the queue and Sick Beard isn't processing and background checks or anything.

Any idea what that could be?

SABnzbd and Sick Beard can both be configured to watch a folder for NZBs and downloaded TV shows, respectively. Couch Potato always watches the movies folder, which can't currently be disabled.

As long as you disable watching in SABnzbd and Sick Beard (and don't have Couch Potato installed), and use in memory storage for the logs (e.g. /var/log/sabnzbd and /var/log/sickbeard), as far as I know, the install drive should be able to spindown.

Good call, that's got to be it.  I had copied over the sabnzbd.ini file I was using on another machine, which has directory watching enabled.  Time to turn that off.  Thanks again, you really know your stuff.

I just wanted to say thank you for these apps ...

After a little bit of effort and messing around, I now have all 3 up and running and very happy.  I had been using Sickbeard for just a little while on my WinPc, but it's so much more convenient having it up and running on my UnRaid cache drive!

I noticed that your post originally had some questions about broken links and being unable to access Sick Beard with your web browser. If there was a problem with the package installation that you managed to resolve or work around, I'd appreciate any feedback so that I can improve the packages and hopefully avoid anyone else running into the same problems :)

I don't know exactly what I did to fix it, and I was just pushing buttons and seemed to get it to work  ???... originally, I was unable to manually download the 8th file as part of the SABnzbd install from the unmenu Pkg Manager (looked like a broken link), but was able to get the others.  I re-downloaded the file from your the first post in this thread, refreshed the Pkg Manager, clicked the redownload and then was able to install... if I go in there now (with SABnzbd up and running and doing stuff), I still get this on the 8th file... There was a reboot of my unraid server at one point in there, but I'm not sure exactly at what step. (I wasn't paying close attention and doing 2 or 3 other things at the same time.

Thanks. Looks like they released a new patch to the openssl archive and removed the old one. I've updated the SABnzbd package, and it should be working again. To fix the MD5 checksum mismatch you can download the new SABnzbd package and manually download the missing archive into your packages directory from the terminal.

cd /boot/packages/
wget http://slackware.cs.utah.edu/pub/slackware/slackware-current/slackware/n/openssl-0.9.8r-i486-2.txz

So I'm trying to get SAB and Sickbeard up and running.  I followed the directions and the packages show as installed and reinstall on restart.  I didn't change any variables so they should be on 8081 and 8082.  I've tried the start buttons for both, but I'm not getting any response on either port.

I telnet'd in and looked around for it.  I found the directories in the /user folder rather than /cache, so I'm not sure what's up with that.  I was able to start them from the command line pointed at the User folder but I'm not sure the implications of that...

maybe a bit off topic, but we might want to looking to get 0.6.0 Beta running.  There is a problem when downloading non post processing scrip stuff where the file is deleted after the download.  I guess 0.6.0 addressees this.  Thanks guys this will be a great package for folks getting started.  It took me a while to get all this stuff up and running manually.

Would be nice if it could auto-update like Sickbeard and Couch Potato!  I'm am so digging it still!

I'm currently running SAB and Sickbeard on my desktop but I like the thought of having these apps run on my server then I would only need to run one machine 24/7.

I'm wondering if running these apps on my server make it vulnerable to malware that could be imbeded in the files I'm downloading?  There are a lot of posts about SAB on the forums but I don't see anyone talking about any additional risk to their server.  Perhaps I'm missing something.  Is this an issue I should be concerned about?  If so, what precautions should I take to minimize the risk?

Excellent question! I recently made the switch from desktop- to server-running apps to reduce the number of machines on 24/7, and I just assumed risk would be the same, as anyone who gets into my PC can just as easily access my server through mapped drives... I'd love to hear some responses from the gurus on this board!

I'm no expert, but the apps run on unRAID as nobody:users (at least on unRAID 5 and up), an unprivileged user with no login account. If there was a vulnerability in one of the apps which allowed an attacker to execute code, it would only be in that context.

If you're worried, don't allow direct access to the apps over HTTP from outside your LAN. Configure a VPN or temporarily allow access through your router/firewall when you need to connect.
