February 25, 201115 yr I have a running unraid server, and I am about to change my motherboard to another I've got hold on (more expansion possibilities). But what should I be aware of in the process? Can I just change it and rebuild the partity drive? Or how do I establish the same server with a new motherboard? Tia/Lappen
February 25, 201115 yr As unRaid is not too picky with new motherboards, all you have to do is swap the boards. That should do it. There are no hassles or problems you should discover, unless you upgrade to a board which is already tested with unRaid (only thing that can be a problem is the chipset and the chip of the NIC - some are simply not supported and would slam your performance). So, stop your array, power down, switch mobos and switch on again - that'll do.
February 25, 201115 yr 1. I believe the best practice is to ensure your partiy drive is up to date (so run a parity check). 2. Take a screen capture of drive assignments so you can re-assign drives after you replace the motherboard. 3. remove old board/install new board power on and reassign drives. 4. Start array
