Got new disks — how to move some of the containers?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I have been using Unraid for a several of years now and I am in love with it! However, recently my old HGST 4TB drives started to show their age, so I have added new 14TB WD ones. All the data on the server has different priority for me, so I want to keep the old drives for the time being but use them only for specific containers (ie Plex) and have more important ones (like Nextcloud) on the new disks. How is this achieved properly? Usually I would try it out on my own instead of asking, but I really don't want to mess up the Nextcloud instance, as it has been my primary file hosting service for several years.

Thanks!

Lev

You can specify Included (or Excluded) disks for any of your User Shares.

If you need to move some User Shares to other disks check out the unBALANCE plugin.

Wow that was easy — thanks!

Note that merely specifying which disks to include for a User Share won't have any effect on any existing files, it only controls where new files get written for the share.
