Just added a 2 port SATA2 Serial ATA II PCI-Express RAID Controller Card (Silicon Image SIL3132) to my server. I also connected the disk it will control at the same time.

 

I put the server back on the shelf and booted it up, but the disk it's not showing up in myMain or anywhere else for that matter. I'm going to double check the power and SATA cable in a bit, but I wanted to get some thoughts on that error.

 

There's something out of the ordinary in the syslog:

 

ata2: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0xe frozen (Errors)

Getting an error when adding syslog: "The uploader is full."

 

Syslog

1) Clean shutdown

2) Moved the SATA cable to the forward most port on the card

3) Confirmed power cable (direct from power supply; no molex adapter) was fully seated into disk

4) Booted up

 

Disk is now there and pre-clearing. >

 

Unfortunately, this concerns me for the next disk I add. I have another disk I will try once this pre-clear completes so I can confirm if that other port is toast.
