tucansam
All these threads are old. Is this forum still alive? I've been buying 8TB WD externals for a while, but I am at a point now where I need to move to larger disks array-wide. I see MFGs are up to 18TB disks now. Holy moly. I think going from 8TB disks to 10TB or 12TB might not make a whole lot of sense.... But the 18TB disks are very, very expensive. What's the sweet spot for teen TB disks these days? Thanks. BVD
16TB Exos can be had for 330 bucks on newegg - they're not quiet, but the price/GB can't be beat, especially not with a 5 year warranty. Quote Link to comment
cbarbie
Shucking is still an option. That is where the majority of my drives have come from. This site tracks pricing at some sites: https://shucks.top/ Quote Link to comment
mathomas3
with this new HDD heavy blockchain coming online it seems like a bad time to buy any hdd while im currently on 8tbs.... im about to fill out my current array... I will need to use my only spare HDD to extend the array... hope that i dont have a failure/fill the array till the prices come back to normal... Quote Link to comment
BVD
Anything 6tb and less, even some 8tb units, they're still close to prior prices - the miners prefer 12tb+ for efficiency sake Quote Link to comment
