CPU Temperature Intel E8400 Wolfdale

Featured Replies

Curious as I am, I chekced the CPU temperature of my standard Lenovo system while running HandBrake (both cores at 100%), equipped with an Intel E8400 dual core running at default 3.00 Ghz.

As you can see on my screenshot I could boil some eggs on it.

The CPU cooler is the original cooler which was installed in the system. It is completely dust free.

What do you think - get a better cooler? I suppose the life span of the CPU won't be to long if constantly running at 70°C ...

OK, I hate those computer manufacurers. Just installed SpeedFan 4.42 and recognized that the CPU and the chassis inlet fan were running at 25%. Pushed them up to 100% (yes, it is loud) cooled the CPU cores down to 48°C. In the BIOS there is no possibility to adjust the fan speeds.

Stupid ...  :o

EDIT: After cooling the cores down, I adjusted the fans at 50% which is not loud at all. Core temperature stays around 50°C.
