CaptainCowpie
I am new to building these systems, and am planning to build one in a few weeks. I have all Apple hardware in my house, so the announcement of Thunderbolt/Lightpeak on the new Macbook Pros got me thinking. If I build a system now, will I be able to upgrade it down the road to Lightpeak if I get a new computer with it installed? Any other considerations I should take into account when building now to make sure I can transition later? Thanks, Vince Quote Link to comment
broodwich
unRAID is a server storage system or NAS (network attached storage). Thunderbolt, is designed for DAS (direct-attached storage). If you need centralized storage for multiple client systems, unRAID might be a good choice if you just need storage for a single computer/workstation on the only computer that supports Thunderbolt right now you might want to look for those solutions as they become available. CaptainCowpie
broodwich, Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense. My system will be for multiple computers, or unRAId it is. Vince Quote Link to comment
