ThatsNotME Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 (edited) Hi, Newbie here 🙋♂️ I'm trying to find out if an Unraid configuration is best for my needs. My current setup includes an HTPC (Win10) with 6 external drives the vary from a 250gb ssd to a 16tb hhd. My main use for them is to store media files (Music & Movies). I use Jriver as my main music player and for movies I'm using my Oppo 203 UHD player to stream (mainly 4k movies) from various drives. I'm thinking of taking all the drives and attaching them to a mini pc that I currently don't use. It's not a power mini pc, so I don't know if it'll be a good match for a NAS server. I would also want to use one of my HDD's as a backup to some of my content. Here's the specs: CPU: Intel® Atom™ x5-Z8350 GPU: Intel® HD Graphics RAM: 2GB DDR3 ROM: 32GB eMMC LAN: 10/100/1000 WiFi: 2.4G + 5.8G USB: 1 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0 Audio/Video: HDMI, Headphone Jack, SD card (up to 128 GB) Other: Bluetooth 4.0 OS: Windows 10 Do you think that this mini pc will suffice for Unraid and for my needs? trurl Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 USB is not recommended for array or pool disks Quote
trurl Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Also that RAM isn't really enough for much except bare NAS functionality. But trying to use external disks is the main problem with this. Quote
ThatsNotME Posted May 1, 2021 Author Posted May 1, 2021 Thanks for the reply. So even if I'll get a more powerful pc, the external disk issue is problematic? Quote
