March 2, 201115 yr I am having a very strange issue. After all my drives are spun down and I select disk3 , disk 5 also spins up with it. Now when I select disk1, 2, or 4 this does not happen an disk 5 says spun down. It is only when I select disk3. I am not sure if something is going on because I did a reboot and when it start up it went into a parity check. Attached is the syslog file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. syslog_3-2-11.txt
March 2, 201115 yr When you 'select disk 3' are you accessing disk shares or user shares? Do you have any spin up groups set? Edit: I do see some spin up groups in your syslog: Mar 2 00:43:51 Tower kernel: mdcmd (4): set spinup_group 0 4 Mar 2 00:43:51 Tower kernel: mdcmd (5): set spinup_group 1 0 Mar 2 00:43:51 Tower kernel: mdcmd (6): set spinup_group 2 1 Mar 2 00:43:51 Tower kernel: mdcmd (7): set spinup_group 3 32 Mar 2 00:43:51 Tower kernel: mdcmd (: set spinup_group 4 0 Mar 2 00:43:51 Tower kernel: mdcmd (9): set spinup_group 5 8 On the unRAID settings page, set 'enable spin up groups' to 'No' and see if the behavior changes.
March 2, 201115 yr Author Raj, Thanks for the help. Changing "Enable spin up groups" to NO fixed the issue. The current hosts were: Parity host6 Disk1 host5 Disk2 host6 Disk3 host1 Disk4 host2 Disk5 host1 I never touched them in the past and am not sure if this is new to 4.7 or was always there. Should each disk have it's own host? Can I change them manually or will that mess things up? I would probably do: Parity host1 Disk1 host2 Disk2 host3 Disk3 host4 Disk4 host5 Disk5 host6
March 2, 201115 yr Just disable it and it shouldn't matter. Or you can manually set each host by clicking on the drive's link on the unRAID Main page.
March 2, 201115 yr Author Thanks for all the help. I never knew about the host option and think down road it will come in handy. For example Disk 1 and 2 are dvd's, Disk 3 and 4 TV Shows, and Disk 5 mostly games and misc. So it would be nice for them to come up together in groups.
