[SOLVED] Data Rebuild in progress = red dot?

Featured Replies

I just had to do an unplanned (aren't they all?) replacement of one of my older re-purposed drives. My server is currently in Rebuild state, is the replacement drive (the one where data is being rebuilt to, supposed to have a red dot?

It will have a red dot until it is completely rebuilt I think. As you're probably experiencing, it'll take a while to finish, too which if all goes well, the disk will be in a green state.

Hope this heaps.

I think the rebuild dot is more of an orange, isn't it?  Unless that means something else.

Red dot means a write to the drive failed, this is bad.

Orange dot means that the drive is being rebuilt, this is normal.

Post a screenshot if you aren't sure which color you are seeing.

Quite frankly, without the other color up onscreen at the same time for comparison, I can't really tell if it's red or orange. Here's a screencap:

Definitely orange.  You're good.

Go into the myMain plugin for unmenu. The icons for different drive states are very different. There is also hover text that explains the state.

Rebuild and Parity check completed without issues, so I guess it was orange  :D

Thanks all!
