xrqp Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Shutdown, power off, manual start vs Reboot Is shutdown sometimes better at fixing problems? Does shutdown more thoroughly cause a redo of everything? Quote
Squid Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Only difference in terms of problems is if a particular piece of hardware needs to have the power actually cycled to it to solve it's issue instead of merely a reset. Quote
xrqp Posted May 10, 2021 Author Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) OK. I did not know if reboot shut off power briefly. I guess not. Thanks. I remember the South Park episode, where the internet went off all around the world, causing porn to be unavailable and many other problems, until they power cycled the router. 6of6 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 LMAO!... Oh, man... When I run into problems (back on subject), I like to make sure everything has no power at all for, at least, 15 seconds. Quote
