Transfer speed Unraid > VM

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm using Unraid for two weeks now and I'm very impressed what this system is able to do.

My system runs on a Threadripper 2950x with 128GB of RAM at 2833Mhz.

I'm running two zfs pools at raidz1. 8x2TB MX500 SSD with 1x515GB Cache (Samsung 970 Pro) and 5x512GB Samsung 970 Pro for my VM's.

Installed also an Intel X540-T2 10GBe network card.

My Windows 10 VM is running on the zfs pool with the NVME drives.

Absolutely no problems so far. The only thing that is strange to me: If I copy data to from the zfs pools into my VM the speed is limited to around 400MB/s. If I copy files from my 10GBe network to the VM I get 1GB/s. Even if I copy from the VM to the zfs pools I get 1,5GB/s.

I also tried another SSD with xfs on the Unraid server, but here I had the same 400MB/s limitation.

Do you have any idea what could I do that my transfer speed to the VM is improving?

Thanks

GK
