You have to try it, they claim it at least.

Does it support ES version cpu? I have a QTB0 (10900T ES), but the plugin says GVT-g not supported.

As far as I can tell, T & E series CPUs aren't supported.

My i9-10900 (without any letter at the end) is supported.

Hi !

For information, my i7-10700T with an "Intel Corporation CometLake-S GT2 [UHD Graphics 630] (rev 05)" is supported !

;)

Nice, thanks for the information.

I also think that it depends on the implementation from the Motherboard manufacturer. GVT-g is a bit of a hit and miss nowadays.

Does the iGPU work when you use VNC? Currently the iGPU P630 from my Xeon 2124G only works on display 1 apparently and I am on display 2 (VNC). When I watch a YT video it stutters and CPU usage is high and iGPU has no usage shown. The intel control center only shows one display as well but not the one I am on. I don't want to set it as primary display and loose my connection since I don't have RDP access. Is there any way to make use of the iGPU through VNC?

No, because VNC is software based.

GVT-g is mostly used for RDP or Parsec usage, you can also use a DisplayLink™ device to mirror the Display to actually display the image to a physical output.

Can you recommend a remote connection software for linux that works with gvt-g?
Also do I need to set the GPU to virtual, no GPU or the iGPU inside the VM Settings?

Please read the second post, the tutorial is for Windows but you have to use the same settings as for Linux.

I'm not really aware of any RDP software that is compatible with Linux as the host that supports HW acceleration.

It works in Windows. I am mainly using Linux so I was looking for a way to remote desktop into the VM through that. But all good. Thanks for the help :)

I've an Intel i3-7100T CPU in a Supermicro X11SSH-F board but I'm getting GVT-g not supported error.

Can you please have a look what might be the reason?unraid-diagnostics-20250203-2015.zip

may dont use RDP as client software, rather switch to VNC, chrome remote desktop, parsec, ...

this error is coming when the gpu vram gets on its limits, nothing we can really do aout it and usually coming only on RDP usage.

you can read some pages up about aperture size etc, RDP can and will (sadly) end up with issues here ...

You can actually use RDP with gvt-g graphic. You need to modify RDP to perform rendering not on hardware.

Using AVC/H.264 is now the default, but you may disable it using the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) and drilling down to :
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Remote Session Environment

and change as disable Configure H.264/AVC hardware encoding for Remote Desktop connections to disable.

its taken from

Screenshot from mine config (saddly it will not help much most of you since its in Polish)

With this you can still have accelerated GPU VM without crashes from RDP protocol.

Hope this help some of you :)

does gvt support es cpu?

i  am using qbt1(10900es) cpu with uhd630 igpu, but it showed GVT-g not supported

it's sure that iGPU is not bound to VFIO, set to the primary graphics adapter in the BIOS, and dummy plug used

If it shows that it's not supported then sadly no, however it could be also the case that the Motherboard manufacturer disabled it in the Firmware.

However I'm not too sure if GVT-g is supported on ES CPUs, on my 10900 it works perfectly fine.

Hey Ich777.

It seems like, update 7.1.2 has broken the Virtual GPU for my VM. i've tried every step under troubleshooting but it gives code 45 (Not connected).

Is the update working for you?

Tried the following:

  • Changing Modes within the plugin
  • New VM
  • Reinstalling Plugin (including restarts)
  • Server reboots

Unfortunately no luck yet

@ich777

Have you had any chance to take a look into the issue, or require more information from me perhaps?

Sadly enough no, my time is really limited right now.

...it's still on my TODO list.

No worries, thank you for responding! :)

I am currently facing a headache inducing problem. My CPU is 7700t, and I am able to use gvt-g for virtual core display on Windows systems, but I cannot use it on fnOS (a Linux system). Although I can see the graphics card name in its device management, I cannot see card0 renderD128 using the/dev/dri command. And my other CPU7100 doesn't have this problem. May I ask how to solve this problem?

this would be better placed at a gvt-g help section outside Unraid.

may try to follow the official howto from gvt-g

its not as "plug & play" as a windows guest and may require some specials inside your VM,

but more and better support would be given in their help sections ...

here its more about if the plugin itself would produce issues.

Having the same issue here on 7.1.3. When I try to start a VM that worked previously unraid locks up.

I was able to hit the power button on the machine itself to bring the array down, then held the power button down to turn it off fully after a while. I didn't have to run a parity check.
