Change parity disk and remove disk

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'd like to have your opinion.

I would like to change my parity disk (3T for a 4T) and remove a disk in my Pool. Can I do this in one step or am I better off doing it in multiple steps?

In one step: I stop my Pool and I create a new Pool by selecting my new parity disk and not selecting the disk I want to remove.

If I understand correctly, in both cases, I have to recreate my Pool for removing a disk?

Thanks for your help.

By pool do you mean the array or a cache pool?

Scuse me the Array.

I will check my Cache pool after this move.

If the disk you want to remove is empty you can do a new config, keep assignments, unassign old parity and the disk you want to remove, assign new parity and start array to begin parity sync, any data on the removed disk will no longer be on the new array.

Thanks for your reply JorgeB.

This is what i toughti was doing but it's a little stressful to wipe config and start new config... ;)

* If data left on removed disk, is not availlable to array but is possible to read the date directly on disk i think?

Thanks

Yes, you can use for example the UD plugin.
