Gathering shares to certain disks.

Featured Replies

So I recently watched spaceinvaderones guide on setting up shares so that when you access the media only one disk will spin up. Sounds good to me but how would I easily and safely accomplish that on an established server? Create a new share, set it up as per the video then copy everything over, then delete originals? Or will changing the settings of the share cause unraid to move the files around on its own?

Unraid will not do that.

I don't remember the details of the video, you should create the share you want, set it up as you want (includes, etc) then move the files. Depending on the amount of data to move and the size of your cache for this share (if any), you might want to wait after the move to set up your cache.
