March 5, 201115 yr Ok...I'm just getting frustrated now... doing something simple like upgrading a disk shouldn't be this hard... Following the Wiki... Old Drive was 360gb, new one is 1Tb... I Replace a single disk with a bigger one This is the case where you are replacing a single small disk with a bigger one: 1. Stop the array. 2. Power down the unit. 3. Replace smaller disk with new bigger disk. 4. Power up the unit. 5. Start the array. I click Start (after checking the check box) and nothing happens... what am I doing wrong? Stopped. Upgrading disk. syslog.zip
March 6, 201115 yr I would just like to point out that you are complaining about a beta test release not working correctly. You chose to install this version so you have to take some responsibility for having issues with it. You should be able to check the box and hit start and off it goes. If this isn't the case then go over to the 5.0b6 thread in the announcement forum and post about your issue. I'm sure LimeTech would like to know by email as well. Make sure to put something along the lines of reporting a 5.0b6 issue in the subject. Peter

Peter Thanks, I have reached out to Tom via email, and while this issue is occuring on the Beta, my comments about the UI stand on every production release over the past 2 plus Years, and it's just not user friendly. It's just an opinion and I feel somewhat locked it at this point now but I'm thankful for this community that I need to post too every time I need to make a change to my server.
March 6, 201115 yr Author I guess for now, I just reinstalled the 360GB Drive and the Array started up fine... I have 2 new 1.5TB Drives that will be here early next week, that I was hoping to install, but looks like I might have to wait. Tom, or anyone else, if you need me to try anything to recreate or test this, please let me know, otherwise, I'll just wait for the next stable release. Wade
March 6, 201115 yr I'm not ignoring your issues but it is a beta release which included some fairly big changes so issues are expected. I don't have an answer as to why you can't replace your drive and it's very likely than no-one else can provide a solution to this issue. Most likely, you will either have to drop back to an older version such as 4.6 or 4.7 or just provide info to Tom and hope the next beta release has a fix. I would not be surprized if Tom does not have a solution for this release. If there is a bug where the disk replacement does not work then it just won't work in this release. Still, I believe Tom is quite open to hearing good constructive feedback to improve his product. A nice user interface is actually much harder to create than it would first appear. So, if you do have some good ideas then drop Tom a note with details on these ideas and it's possible they may be implimented in the future. Peter
