French Etailor Drive Failure Rates - Which 2 TB to buy now?

Featured Replies

Has anyone read this French article about drive failure experiences from some French etailor?  Over a six month period sales period and a return period stretching another six months after that sales period (i.e., drives less than a 1 year old), the 2 TB Seagate LP had a failure rate of 4.35% and the WD EARS had 4.83% while the EADS had 2.9%.  Granted the LP drives probably had the older firmware.  More importantly it's just one etailor's numbers.

First ran accross the article on Anandtech where it was claimed that some of the failure numbers where confirmed by manufacturers (although don't know whether any of them where actually drive manufacturer's --- doubt it).

So the obvious question:  any of you  rethinking your 2 TB disc buying strategy?  Are you looking to have more back up drives or thinking about replacing some drives sooner than later?

I am not rethinking my strategy at all as it was formed while being well educated from other more extensive drive studies and experiences.
