SMB high CPU load

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm fairly new to unraid and currently have set up a system with 2 HDDs as zfs encrypted array, no parity and one cache SSD (not encrypted) for VMs/Docker.

Processor is an old i5 2500k and 24GB DDR3 memory.

When i am copying from the array from an Windows machine via SMB my CPU gets nearly maxed out (idle CPU utilization ~10%) and copying speed sometimes drops to ~50MB/s on an 1Gbit connection.

Even if i copy from the non-encrypted SSD so i don't think that the encryption of array is my problem.

The weird thing which i don't really understand is that most CPU power gets used by my 2 VMs (HomeAssistant and Ubuntu Server) during the copy process and return to idle if copying is finished.

Any ideas what i could have setup wrong?

Regards in advance
