March 8, 201115 yr Hi everyone. I'm new to Unraid, and servers in general. I'm knowledgeable as far as computers go though. I built an unraid server about 2 months ago and it has been running fine. I'm running 2 Hitachi 2 t drives. Yesterday I stopped the array and shut down the computer to change the sata cables to right angle cables. Now when I try to boot it, starts to load and hangs in the loading process. I'm not really sure what to do, this is all new to me, and I know just enough to be dangerous. I'll try to attach a photo of the boot process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did go back and try the old cables to make sure I didn't have a faulty one.
March 8, 201115 yr put the flash drive in a windows machine and run a check disk on it to see if anything is wrong with it. From there I would copy the bzroot and bzimage files back over to the flash drive and try to boot after that.
March 8, 201115 yr Author Thanks for the reply, would that be the images from the installation package? Also I'm assuming that won't affect passwords, shares etc?
March 8, 201115 yr correct, just replaceing the bzroot and bzimage from the zip file that is on the Limetech site will not effect passwords and the like.
March 9, 201115 yr Author Thanks for your help, that corrected the problem. Do you have any idea what may have corrupted that file?
March 9, 201115 yr Thanks for your help, that corrected the problem. Do you have any idea what may have corrupted that file? Not really. I HIGHLY suggest you run a memtest on your system at least for over night. If you can run it for 24 hours that would be even better.
March 13, 201115 yr Author Ok, well the testing of the ram won't be necessary as I built a new server, with new memory. I'm trying to fire up the new server, now another problem. I enter root at login, goes to password promp, but at that point the keyboard won't type any letters. It won't let me type it in for some reason. The server is an A760 board,, Phenon x2. 3.2gig processor. It has 2 1 gig sticks of Patriot memory. Any help appreciated!
March 13, 201115 yr ...testing of the ram won't be necessary as I built a new server, with new memory. Oh dear!!! After installing new memory is the precise time that you should be running memtest. Motherboard/ram incompatibilities are the main reason for 'memory' failures.
March 13, 201115 yr Author Sorry i misstated what I meant. The new ram was new in my new unraid server. It was from another computer that has run here for almost a year without a hitch and had been tested overnight. This is NOT the problem with corrupted file any more, if you read the post you would see that.

Just because memory works in one mobo doesn't mean that it will be problem free in another mobo. This is NOT the problem with corrupted file any more, if you read the post you would see that. Indeed, but you should have created a new topic, not started discussing a new problem (on different hardware) as a follow-up to a previous problem.
March 13, 201115 yr Author Peter it ran in the A760 in memtest all night. The reasons I left it in the same thread, at first I thought it may have been a corruption issue,so a continuation of the same issue. After running it in memtest was pretty sure it wasn't but had already posted about it.
