March 8, 201115 yr Hi a quick question, Are the long/short smart tests destructive to disks in the unraid volume? I assume I should stop the array before performing any of the smart tests? no. smart tests are not destructive at all. No need to stop the array. You should disable any spin-down timers, since the long test will abort if unRAID spins down the disk. Long tests take 4 or 5 hours or more on large disks.
