Mover crashes and takes all shares offline

Featured Replies

I added a new NVME cache drive so moved my appdata to the array then onto the new cache drive by changing the cache settings (prefer > remove old cache > no > add new cache > prefer). I see that not all has moved so I run the mover but it doesn't do anything but crashes and removes all the shares until I reboot.

The log shows a crash right after I invoke the mover but I don't know why:

Jun  6 13:40:22 Tower kernel: [drm] UVD and UVD ENC initialized successfully.
Jun  6 13:40:22 Tower kernel: [drm] VCE initialized successfully.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot further.

Thanks

Post Diagnostics

Your appdata, domains, system shares have files on the array. Mover can't move open files so you have to go to Settings and disable Dockers and VM Manager before these can be moved.

I had disabled docker but not VMs because I don't have any. Thanks so much.

If the VM service is enabled it keeps files open even if you don't have any VM's defined.

It seems I spoke too soon. I had some data in another cache pool which was copying so I though it was working but as soon as it did that it crashed again.

So I have disabled Docker and VM services. Is there anything else?

Thanks

Have you done memtest?

  • Author

Yes, just left it running for 12 hours. All fine.

I'm going to try and run safe mode as it might be a something ive added.

Still failed in safe mode.

My array is starting to get messy and the mover not working is a major problem. I could copy all the data wipe unraid and start again but I have dockers that are configured so that's about a weeks work for me to do. I have people needed to access the resources. It's really disheartening.

  • 3 weeks later...

This is happening to me as well.

Did you ever figure out a solution?

You should start your own thread with your diagnostics.

I have done that as well.

Right now I am trying to do my own research to correct this particular issue. Was hoping that someone who has had this similar issue can shed some light on this.

Did now know asking if the issue was resolved was going to cause an issue my apologies.

Not a problem, didn't know you already had another thread going.
