March 11, 201115 yr Has anyone used one of these? It uses the PCI expansion slot & bracket for mechanical support only. Nothing electrically connected to the PCI slot. It still needs to hooked up to a SATA cable/controller. I say this before someone tells me that the PCI slot is the bottle neck. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817998079&cm_re=2.5_slot-_-17-998-079-_-Product I want to add a SSD for my jukebox files for YAMJ. I have both a Hi-Def (16:9) and standard def (4:3) indexes (10,000+ files). I use cache_dirs and does not make sense to always have the drive with the jukebox indexes always spinning up and down to browse before and after viewing a movie. This way only the disk with the movie spins up. Besides, that side of the case & MB is bare. I need to put something there! PB
March 11, 201115 yr Thanks, I really like it. I can see this as very useful and I'm going to use it in my cases as an extra slot for a possible cache drive. I just ordered one to try it out. Here are two inexpensive notebook drives that would be good cache drives. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148652 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148375
