Unraid Party question

Featured Replies

Hey Guys...

I have a quick question, I just replaced my Parity drive from a 4 gig to a 8 gig, and I tried to follow som guides and now I am not sure I did it the right way :). I added the 8tb as Parity 2 and let it rebuild parity, after that I removed Parity 1 and moved it the the array to use as my 3:d disk.

Now I am not sure what to do with the parity disk .. it is still at Parity2 and I dont know if this will affect anything.

English is not my native language so I might have missed something somewhere and I have been searching for a answer but I cant seem to find one .. :)

So in conclusion, do I need to do something or is it ok to have 1 parity drive but on the "Parity2 slot"

You can leave it as parity2, if you change to parity1 it will need to be re-synced since calculations for both are different, main difference is that parity2 won't say valid if you change data disk order, parity1 will.

Ok so if I understand correct, my system is still as secure with the parity in slot 2 as in slot 1

But if i would to add another 8gig disk it whouldnt hurt to put that one as disk 1 and rebuild and move the disk 2 to the array...

Just to be able to move the disks around in the array if I wanted to do that for some reason :) and not get a error message..
